We try to keep them safe

And, out of harm’s way

When they are called back

How we wish for one more day…

Their round the clock care

Never comes into question

It is simply lovingly carried out

And, then suddenly stops and is never again mentioned…

Only a void is left

Where a heartbeat filled our lives with love

No amount of time with them is ever long enough

Comfort comes with the hope they are watching from above…
